1995 20xd--1995 Mariner Super Mag WHAT PROP?
Bought the boat about 3 months ago and it had a 27p Hoss Chopper with aluminum cavitation ring. Hole shot had to have feathering to get over top and chine walk would get bad about 72. Tried 26p Power Tech 3 blade and worst of everything. Now have tried 4blade yamaha fury clone 25p. Great hole shot, best handling of any boat ever but 62 mph at 6900 rpm is not going to cut it. Any ideas.

26 txp 4 blade would be a good all around fishing prop
how much setback are you running?

Welcome aboard..
Like Cliff said, what is your set back, water pressure and propshaft to pad height??
How did they put a cav ring on the chopper?? Normaly they are for over/through hub props like the Trophy or small hub TXP.

Set back is 10in. The cav ring was mounted by 4 set screws on the ID of the lower unit housing. Not sure how to measure height. Kinda new to having a boat that exceeds 50mph. I am not worried about 80+, I am rarely going to fish in conditions where that would even be realistic. I am looking for solid hole shot with good speed and handling. I did hear one of our local boat guy say the lower unit is a sporty.

A 28 Performer 4 set at 1 1/4" above the pad. Here is a quick and dirty way to measure the propshaft to pad height.
Get someone to help you, find some level ground or garage floor and put a level on the bottom of the pad and hold it there and have someone raise/lower the boat trailer until the pad is level. Now put level on the cavitation plate of the motor and trim it up/down until the cavitation plate is level. Measure from the ground/floor to the middle of the propshaft and from the grouond/floor to the bottom of the pad. The difference is how far above or below the pad the proppshaft is.

I wonder if he means that the bearing carrier has been pinned?
Re: 1995 20xd--1995 Mariner Super Mag WHAT PROP? (mercury97)

Are you using photobucket or shutter fly to host your pics??
Re: 1995 20xd--1995 Mariner Super Mag WHAT PROP? (Largemouthlou)

That is the first time I have seen that,,, like it hough... How is it attached??
Re: 1995 20xd--1995 Mariner Super Mag WHAT PROP? (Largemouthlou)
First thing I see from the pic is that you are running a cle case. If you want more speed and better handling I would have it coned
Re: 1995 20xd--1995 Mariner Super Mag WHAT PROP? (Largemouthlou)
Its attached by 4 small set screws on the inner part of the ring.

I do too. My favorite prop on my boat (once it is planed out) is a pro et
It just spins to much coming out of the hole.I would like to have something similar but just don't have the tools to make something like that. I'd actually like to have it come out past the gearcase about 3/16 in closer to the prop.
Re: 1995 20xd--1995 Mariner Super Mag WHAT PROP? (rambo274)
I wonder If someone could take an aluminum exhaust ring that Mark sells and drill some holes in it, put some allen head set screws in it and do the same thing.
Re: 1995 20xd--1995 Mariner Super Mag WHAT PROP? (rambo274)
Mark could make one that fits I bet... Not sure if there is much demand though.

I could call the guy I bought the boat from in Witchita Falls and ask who did it if anyone is interested. Still looking for feedback as to the best set up for this rig
Re: 1995 20xd--1995 Mariner Super Mag WHAT PROP? (judge)
First you need to see where the nose of the lower unit is to the pad.If your satisfied with the 10" plate cool..If not put a 14" plate on it or get extensions to bring it to 14"s..Like Cliff said a 26TXP with vent holes should be a great prop..Your water psi should be around 15psi running wot..
