try and find a used 520c or similar. (522c, 525c-DF) Not sure on the new HD models... maybe someone else will know if they work with the map create cards.
Our Lowrance guru, Fishing Coullion, will be along to help any minute.

Look who it is.. You must f off all year and do all your work in the last month!!!
From what I've seen the new Lowrance has the maps built in and you dont need the card any longer unless you find an older 520c/522

It don't matter what unit or card or mapping program. they all are bad and lack detail here in South Louisiana.
By detail I mean showing canals and bayous also.
If you look hard enough you can find the HDS units on sale and get a rebate...witht he HDS units you would not need the card...now if you were looking at the Elite Series those units only take the micro SD cards....

I would have to disagree with that. No contour lines for sure, but seeing canals/bayous show up on mine.(522 with MapCreate Card)
Now HB(Navionics), that one has squat. No bayous and barely marked the Intracoastal Waterway.
Thanks, looks like I need to find a 522. Did anybody upgrade for Christmas?? http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif
522i is the 520c but with an internal antenna. You will need a map create card to get the detail in either of these.
I have Map Create.
Roger, just an FYI, lowrance does not work on or fix those units anymore...so if it goes bad your SOL....
i would go with the hds-5 insite or the elete 5 dsi,, mater of fact there is a few on the for sale board ,,under 500
jmi..
Not sure if its still running but Academy had the HDS 5s for 499 after the mail in rebate not long ago.
Will look around after the 1st, thanks.
Mr. Roger, my wife bought my HDS-5 with lake insight for $499 at cabelas. Academy had them on sale for that price but they were out of stock. She took ad to cabelas and surprisingly they matched the price.
Do yall know if a card made for Lowrance will work on an Eagle. I was told Eagle is made by Lowrance and a co worker has the program to make me a card. Dont want to waste his time and my money if it is not compatible.
Those cards have to be about 5-10$ now for a blank one. I would think it would work and worth a try.
Frog I can lend you one to try. Look for me this evening before you leave.
is there anything similar to the 522 with map create that hummingbird offers?
