Re: no alarm signal (LaTriton)
Did you check the wirs going to the alarm? I had a boat that had the wires zip tied too tight and it pulled one of the wires off.
Re: no alarm signal (stealthperf)
Make sure that the motor is in neutral as well, otherwise it will not make the "beep" ... don't ask how I know that. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/embarassed.gif
Re: no alarm signal (LaTriton)
Connect a test light or voltmeter between the purple wire and the tan w/blue stripe at the warning horn.
Turn the key "on" and monitor for the light to light (or for voltage). There should be power on these two wires for a short burst (would correspond to the short beep you hear when turning the key on).
If your results are as above noted- replace the warning horn. If not, report back. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
Re: no alarm signal (EuropeanAM)
we've had to replace alarms on my boat and my dad's....they had just gone bad....i think they were like 9.95...took all of 5 mins to do...problem solved...
Re: no alarm signal (low slung cruiser)
thanks everyone for your suggestions. One other question, is the alarm in the shift control handle?
Re: no alarm signal (LaTriton)
on my gambler it is under the dash...
Re: no alarm signal (low slung cruiser)
Most setups have the warning horn attached to the keyswitch harness (somewhere within approximately 1' of the ignition switch).
Appropriate warning horns are readily available through us, or any Mercury Dealer (they're a little more expensive than above noted, however). http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
Re: no alarm signal (EuropeanAM)
