barry, you wont find better. I go to new orleans often as my girlfriends dad does alot of business out of there. Anytime you have an event as the classic, the rates go up.
Wow thas high, i might stay at my moms house.
Me and some friends booked rooms about two weeks ago for $140/night. Called today about getting a couple more rooms and the rates had gone over $200/night!!!!! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/mad.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/mad.gif
Just came across the New Orleans Marriot at the Convention Center. Says $129 a night. Right across the street from the convention center.
I looked at rooms at the Hilton Riverside a few weeks ago and they were the regular $159? or so a night. Waited to book to make sure we could go, now it cost me $211. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/ohwell.gif
For $200, I will drive home.

Right across the river is gretna, terrytown, belle chasse, etc. $70-100 a night. Holiday Inn,
La Quinta(last resort), and others. 5-15 minutes away.

Now you talking!!!
Jeff is right, the best room rates will be on the west bank near where I live. Can probably get a room at Comfort Inn or Best Western for 70.00 to 90.00 a night. Still not far from Downtown, about 30-35 mins.
Hint Hint, ACME oyster house is better!!! but the only one i know of is on the other side of town in metarie, but its worth it!!
We stay there so we dont have to drive. My wife and her friend will be driving to go shoppin but I dont plan on gettin back in the truck until time to leave Sunday.
Might want to try rooms in Metairie. It's about 10 min. from the convention center.
Probably get one for about 80 a night.
