200 mercury optimax warning alarm
I recently bought a 2005 pro craft 200 super pro. I has a 200 optimax on the back. The motor has a brand new head unit with about 1hr that i put on it. Previously to me owning it the owner blew the motor so the dealer istalled a new head unit. I have done everything they told me to break it in. I idled for just a couple minutes, then got the boat on plane not exceeding 3500 rpms, then would bring the boat back down to let it idle a little more. I brought the boat off plane after making a short run I was going back to the dock at idle speed and a extremely loud alarm went off for about 15 secs. I don't know what it meant or anything. I did it two more times after I shut the boat off. Any help would be appreciated. And i did not get a owners manual with the boat either. thanks!

There are multiple possible causes for the warning horn you heard. Overheat.... low oil, water in fuel, sensor fault, low battery voltage, etc. etc.
The FASTEST way to an accurate "cure": Get the engine on the Dealer Computer Diagnostic System. Request a PRINTOUT of the "Run History" and the "Freeze Frame (FAULT) History". This will give a printout of the faults that have occurred (the latest one is likely related to the cause).
I'll be happy to review the printouts for you if you'd like. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
