Re: Question about Steering (Jeff La)
man after procrastinating makin the change i wouldnt have anything but hydraulic now. No more cables to change etc very seldom any leaks unless you like gun and break the fittings or something. Much less tiresome on longer runs with the bigger motors.

Re: Question about Steering (Rebel1)
Hydraulic would be the way to go, but if you want cables, make sure you get the "NFB" no feed back cables, really helps with the torque, and install the grease buddies at the engine so you can keep them lubed. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif
Re: Question about Steering (Jeff La)
Jeff if you have not yet, you need to drive a boat with hyd steering. YOu will really tell the difference big the larger motors ( 225 and up ) and even more on performance hulls.
Re: Question about Steering (JOHN202)
My 150 has the hydraulic steering. I know I'm not used to it, have only taken the boat out three or four times, I was just wondering what was the advantages. If I fix the old Stratos up I was thinking about what steering to go with.
Re: Question about Steering (Jeff La)
I would not have a boat without it ..
Re: Question about Steering (Jeff La)
Jeff, I have had them both and with my 150 I don't have any issues with cable steering. The hydraulic kit came with the boat but I sold it. I would not replace a good cable steering system with hydraulic but if the steering was bad I would go hydraulic. If you have the helm and cylinder its a no brainer, go back hydraulic, it would be cheaper to change the hoses and maybe pop a kit in the helm than to get a good NFB cable system.
Re: Question about Steering (jcdogfish)
I have both so that's why I was asking. Probably would need to change the cables but was just wondering.
