Mercury Pacemaker Program
I've stumbled across an 08 250 Pro XS that's on the Mercury Pacemaker Program that comes with a 5 year factory warranty. Can anyone shed any light on this program and have either obtained one of these engines or knows anyone who has? http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/ohwell.gif

This would be rare.... Pacemaker engines don't normally come with more than 3 years of warranty coverage. The "3+2" program does NOT apply to them. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
If the engine is truly a "Pacemaker", the serial number will have an added character "P" at the end (example: 1B123456P).
Mercury offers several versions of "discounted, used, remanufactured, CPO (certified pre-owned), and close-out model" engines.
Most "Pacemaker" engines were returned to the factory for one reason or another... some were "camp" engines, some had defects, some used at training schools, etc. In each case, the engine is gone through at the plant by a highly qualified Tech, checked over, carefully repaired and cleaned, recertified, boxed and then offered for sale.
I've sold several of the CPO and Pacemaker engines over the years.... they actually have been VERY trouble-free in my experience. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
Re: Mercury Pacemaker Program (Purple Haze II)
The pace maker is a motor that has been out for demo's or in training classes or a motor that was a customers that had problems and Merc took it back and referbished the motor..
used to be that they were around 2-3 grand cheaper.. It does have the warrenty and Merc honnors it the same as a new motor.
One thing on your side(or used to be) is that the serial #er can be run and a Merc tech can tell ya the full history of the motor
Re: Mercury Pacemaker Program (EuropeanAM)
The dealer told me the reason the motors will have a 5 year factory warranty is because they bought over 30 of them and when they do that the warranty coverage can be negotiated with the factory.

That's very possible. After a little research, it looks like they bought "every last one" on the list. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
Re: Mercury Pacemaker Program (EuropeanAM)
I bought a Pace Maker motor back in September. Its a 225 Pro XS and I love it. It came with a 3 year warranty and I added 4 more for a total of 7. I have it on a Gamber and it runs like a beast.

Went to Jaco's yesterday and paid my bill, the motor I picked has .3 hours on the clock. That's POINT 3 hours! With a 5 year factory warranty. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif
