mercury service manuals worth it?
I have a 08 250 pro XS (1B551427) and I would like to find the correct service manual for it and I find the mercury web sit a little confusing. I am no expert but it was nice when I had a manual for my yamaha and I learned quite a bit from it. So is it worth it for this motor and what is the correct manual? Does it cover items such as changing out coils etc. Thanks

The service manual is a MUST if you plan to perform repairs to, or diagnosis of your engine.
Currently, the 250 ProXS manual is "in the works". It's essentially identical to the 225 ProXS manual.
I'll dig up the part number for you, and post back with it. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif

The most "all inclusive" manual currently available for your application would be:
90-841916R01 (225 Pro/Sport XS Optimax).
Although you have a 250 ProXS, this manual would be the best one for your engine (yours is essentially identical to the 225 ProXS with the exception of cylinder sleeve porting and PCM calibration). http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif

I have a 2002 250 pro xb, what manual do I need, because I try to do most of my work on everything I own, and anything I have owned I have service manuals for, so which do I need and where can I get it?

You can order manuals on our website, by ENGINE SERIAL NUMBER. Follow the Mercury Parts Link.... manual ordering is at the right TOP corner of the screen, as I recall.

Manual orders ship DIRECTLY from Mercury Marine Publications. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
