need help

ok i spun the bushin out of my prop today, i thought i got the lower unit but that looks ok my 2 questions are..... 1- the outer shaft seal is blown and leaking oil, is this a seal that i can change myself from the outside of the motor without tearing it open, 2- i have a spare prop but doesnt seem to fit right when i tighten it down it gets very stiff and will not free spin do i need a different thrust washer on the back? also where can i find the differnt front thrust washers all of my props have a different stlye of lock down

what kind of motor is it? what kind of props??????????

1996 marinier 225 super mag w/ bobs low water pickup. i spun the hub out of my 27 tempest, i have a 26 hoss to put on it the hoss touches when i tighten up and has diffrent front side than the tempest

needs a different thrust washer than the tempest. Not sure which one or where to get one for it. you dont have the flo torques in the tempest? If so just take out the delrin sleeve and pop in another one. if not you'll have to get one pressed in. Should be able to change the seal from outside. usually last thing they put on anyway.

thats kinda what i thought about the seal, red river marine said the whole bearing carrier had to come out two change it because there is two seals.

what is flo torques doug not sure what your talkin bout

The flo torque is the type of hub that mercury runs inside their props . But since you spun the hub in that temp. prop I wouldnt think that youll beable to reuse the derlin sleeve out of it ( the derlin sleeve is the black plastic insert that goes into the back side of your prop) .

Hell yeah i have owned 7 mercs so i had to learn to work on them!

I done had 2 , worked on one all the time and never on the other one .
