Any one ever fish the Kansas walk in ponds/rivers?
Pick up a atlas every year and still have not made it to some these ponds and rivers just wondering if anyone has and if they has any luck? There is one I am interested in that has been in the atlas for 2-3 years now it is located probably 7 miles east of Douglas and is listed at 40 acres with largemouth, crappie, catfish and bluegill. It may just be a honey hole anyone been to this one in? thanks

I hit 2 of them that were close to Manhattan while in college. They were terrible, smaller than listed and max depth of like 2 ft.

Probably alot like the walk in hunting areas. Need to scout them before you go because some of it is over grazed pasture ground good for nothing but maybe hunting mice on.

I fished one once and caught a probably around 15 3-4 lbs channel cats had a good time. Threw all of the back like a good person would.

I have fished three NNE of Manhattan a good 45 min drive. They are located just east of Wheaton on 16. Landed a 5lb1oz LM in the first pond. Heck of a long drive but it has some nice ones.

I'll probably give it another month and let it warm up more before I go out there. Guess you never know until you go.
