2007 250 ProXS - may have an issue
History - <100hrs, been sitting (in garage) for last 4 months with 1/2 tank of gas, added a few ounces of Quickleen and 6 gallons of gas yesterday.
Cranked ok (seemed like it didn't fire as quick as before, as I needed to hold the key a split 2nd longer. This was the case all day), ran normal for 1/2 day. Never ran it over 5,000 RPMs.
What happened - while cruising, in open water, at 4,000 RPMs it shuts off. No warning alarm or anything, it was like I pulled the kill switch. Took 2 attempts to re-crank.
Idled back towards ramp (about 20') then got it up to 5,000 RPMs for a moment to see what would happen. Ran just fine (felt strong) with no indication of any problems.
Is this something I should have checked out?
Possible just old gas from sitting?
Thx!

Greg,
Do you used any Marine Stabil in your gas. I run through gas pretty quick as much as I run but I still add the following in every fill up.
Marine Stabil 1oz to 10 gal of gas
Quickleen 1oz to 6 gal of gas
Seafoam 2 oz to 6 gal of gas
Maybe overkill but inside the hub is as clean as a whistle. I don't take a chance on fuel with ethanol in play nowadays.
You might have some water in the fuel. ???? but I am just guessing. I am sure someone smarter than me will get you on the right track.

Used Seafoam several times, Quickleen sometimes, but never as diligent as I should.
I know the idle time is a no no. No excuses. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthdown.gif

Sounds like a fuel delivery or pressure issue.....
More than likely, you have a failing primer bulb, pulse fuel pump, or low-pressure (lift) pump that is causing your engine to starve for fuel.
The difficulty restarting is due to the need to re-supply fuel to the entire fuel system. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
Get it in... and get it checked, would be my recommendation. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif

Makes sense, because I primed the bulb 1st thing and that was the best crank of the day.
Thank you. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif

Do what Don says but in addition you really need to use that combo of additives that was outlined above. These motors run VERY lean to start with clog an injector and have one probably # 6 run to lean and hot and it's not going to be good at all http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/mad.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/mad.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/mad.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/mad.gif as in BOOM http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/mad.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/mad.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/mad.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/mad.gif
Furthermore you live in FLA the humidity capitol of the world with ethanol in the gas these days it only make not treating and having the gas sit around that much worse!!!
