Re: 300 XS Gas Filtering (gbs52)
Avoid additional filters IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. The only reason I would consider it would be if you have "sandy or muddy fuel" in the tank- or major water issues.
Even in that case- the "best" method to deal with the issue would be to pump the tank and clean it!
IF you decide to "add" a water separating filter... you have to take GREAT caution to use ONLY "straight in and out connections" (avoid 90 degree fittings). Plan to change the filter SEVERAL times per year... and also to have a "fuel line restriction test" done (with a vaccum gauge) immediately after the installation, to confirm that you've not added "excessive" restrictions.
Be very careful... I recommend STRONGLY against adding filters. Quite commonly, I find that even a good quality filter, when tested about 1 month later, has provided the "restrictional equivalent of 30 feet of flexible fuel line". http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/eek.gif
MERCURY or QUICKSILVER 5/16" fuel line is adequate for the engine... WITH Mercury or Quicksilver Primer Bulb. I wouldn't recommend using ANYTHING else.
I prefer that line ALL THE WAY from the tank, into the cowling, and to the fuel pump inlet (on the pulse pump). BULK hose part number is: 32-858610100 http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
Re: 300 XS Gas Filtering (EuropeanAM)
Thanks; Very good info. Your an asset here. The fuel line that I found had on the line [marine fuel] It was 2.50 per foot. I did see on the line coming out of cowling that had on it R-30 which I found at a parts store and it was $6.56 per foot so I didn't get it.....I just want to do it right....Thanks
