Re: Quicksilver Oil (jlayne)
Regular Qucksilver oil meets the TC-W3 specs, but is recommended by Merc for mid-range and smaller motors.
If your purchased Quicksiver Plus OIl, then that is good stuff for high speed large horsepower motors.
Re: Quicksilver Oil (SEAHORSE)
The xd-25, is regular dino oil it is xd-30 now,xd-50 is semi-synthetic and the recommended oil, xd-100 is full synthetic and pricey@ 35.00 a gal for anything but DI's orE-Tecs programmed for 100. Hope this helps!~
Re: Quicksilver Oil (Bassmeister)
thanks fellas... just curious what is the difference between a TCW3 oil for a smaller engine and for a bigger engine.. it would seem to me that there wouldn't be much difference

Re: Quicksilver Oil (jlayne)
I ran PremiumPlus premixed at 40-50:1 (depending on what kind of runnin I was going to do) in my Yamaha for 300hrs...Smoked like a biatch, idled rough, fouled plugs constantly...Switched to XD50, now a little smoke at cold start. Idles a lot smoother, starts easier, doesn't foul plugs, and doesn't look like a mosquito sprayer in long idle zones. I used to go maybe 40hrs on a set of plugs. The ones in their now have 50 hrs and look like new. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif

Must be the amount and the increased cost of higher quality additives.

Re: Quicksilver Oil (Bassmeister)
I was wondering is XD 100 a full synthetic or a blend? In an owners manual it was described as a blend? Of course in reality I guess you can call almost all synth a blend when it comes down to it. Mobil 1 is like 98% synth 2% carrier oil.
Re: Quicksilver Oil (stan)
xd-50 i9s considered a blend,xd-100 is full syn!
Re: Quicksilver Oil (Bassmeister)
so... should i have been running xd50 or xd100 in the first place? do they offer better wear protection?
Re: Quicksilver Oil (jlayne)
You should be running XD-50, if price is not a problem the XD-100 is the absolute best oil you could use.
