2000 225 Ficht No Oil Alarm
I have a 2000 225 Ficht on my Champ and have a problem that has happened a couple of times now. When running in a no wake area just above idle, I get a "no oil" alarm. I shut the key off and restart and the alarm is off. I can run down the lake all day with no alarm. In a long no wake area, I get the alarm again. It doesn't seem affected by weather..........it happened Tuesday with 85 deg temps and 70 deg water. Do you think it could be a sensor or does it sound like the oil lift pump?
I checked the oil tank and it is clean and full of XD 50. I pulled the pickup out of the tank and it is clean as well.
I'm about half afraid to run it right now. Any suggestions of something to look for will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Bob

Interesting way to treat a no oil alarm. Welcome to wasted power head land.
Re: 2000 225 Ficht No Oil Alarm (Bobs203)
I would bet on the oil injector being the problem, I would suggest you get it to your dealer and have it checked, "NO OIL" lights are a bad thing. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
And I didn't delete anything. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif

Shoot, I even saw where Rusty63 deleted a picture on the Alabama Fishing Club forum a couple of days ago.
I guess that's what happens when you give these power hungry guys the 'Moderator' title. They just go deleting everything. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif
Re: 2000 225 Ficht No Oil Alarm (1niceStratos)
Hey Jason, Kenneth said that you should.....well you know Kenneth, he didn't have much to say, http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif we spent the day at the Stratos owners tourney and it was COLD and Wet all day long......we did get to have dinner with the folks from Stratos though, Great group of people. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif
Re: 2000 225 Ficht No Oil Alarm (RUSTY63)
I agree with you on both comments John.........Kenneth doesn't have much to say most of the time, but when he does speak you'd better listen because it's gonna be good. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif And, you are right about the folks from Stratos. They are some of the best people you will find. They are passionate about what they do. They don't just build the boats, they also listen to the owners that buy them. They are also all fishermen (and fisherwomen). http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif
Re: 2000 225 Ficht No Oil Alarm (Bobs203)
Had the same problem a couple of years ago with a 2000 200 Ficht. The oil light would come on and the alarm would sound. My dad and I were up north fishing at the time and we took it to a local dealer. They hooked it up to the computer and it gave them an error that the oil injector pump was no good. So they ordered the $800 pump and replaced it. Worked fine for a few days but when we got back home and put the boat back in the water the same thing happened. Took the boat back to our dealer and they found that the problem was the computer in the engine. Had to have the computer replaced and haven't had a problem since. And just in case you're wondering, they couldn't say wether or not the injector pump was ever the problem. So the total bill was about $2500 when everything was back to working normally.

Hey Won, This has happened to me twice. It is not like everytime I go out it happens. On Tuesday, when it happened, I shut the key off and restarted and the alarm was off and didn't come back on. If, in your words...."welcome to wasted powerhead land" was really happening, don't you think the alarm would have come back on again right away. It didn't. That is why I was questioning if I was getting a false reading from a sensor. I am having it checked out Monday and I have my fingers crossed
And whoever deleted your ice cream girl crap should be thanked. With a grown woman it looked great..........until you show a 10 yr old girl. Anytime you show a child in a situtation like that, it is not cool.........in fact in makes you look like an idiot.

Don't let these guys scare you. I had the exact same problem & I put it off for about a year. The alarm would only go off when I went though a long no wake zone. I would turn off the engine, restart it & it was fine. I talked with a Evinrude Mechanic & he told me to replace the Oil Pump on the stbd side of the engine. I replaced it, wasn't very hard, took about 45 minutes, cost $140. This problem has never happened again. Good Luck
Re: 2000 225 Ficht No Oil Alarm (Team Mud)
I took it to my mechanic and no codes were stored in the computer. He pressure checked the oil lift pump and said it should read 6-20 psi, I believe at idle. It tested as 12. He tested the pressure switch (sender) and said it seemed alright, but a touch eratic. The sender costs $21 so I had him replace it. He said there was a upgraded lift pump available with a green gasket, and mine has this.
One other thing I noticed is when cold and backing the boat off the trailer, it would kill when shifting from reverse to neutral or forward to neutral. He checked the throttle position sensor and said it should be set at .5V and mine was at .28V. He reset that and it is ready to go.
I am breathing a little easier now..........I sure am glad it wasn't the lift pump. Team Mud, I think mine was acting the same way yours was.

Re: 2000 225 Ficht No Oil Alarm (Bobs203)
When i replaced my oil pump it came with a new sending unit, Maybe that was the problem, i may never know, but i do know it was alittle scary having that alarm go off all the time, and a bit frustrating especially in a tournament.
goog luck
Re: 2000 225 Ficht No Oil Alarm (Team Mud)
Guys, if you have a "No Oil" alarm don't just turn the key off and on and keep running the motor.....Have it checked out.
The motor is trying to tell you it is not getting enough oil and this can cause power head damage.
Re: 2000 225 Ficht No Oil Alarm (RUSTY63)
Was reading some old FICHT threads and came across this one. I have a 1999 225 FICHT that runs in salt water. Had the no oil light come on with 3/4 full oil tank. I could see oil in the lines so the question was is this an oil problem or an indicater problem. Turns out the no oil senser(and I believe it is a low oil pressure senser too) is on the starboard side of the motor if your facing forward. It has one wire comming off it. If that wire gets corrosion on it it will go to ground and you will get the no oil horn and warning light. I would highly recommend everyone who has this motor set up disconect the wire and clean the contact surface as preventitive maintenence. I shudder to think of spending thousands on parts when some emery paper and wd 40 was all that was really needed..............
