Ideas for a Team Series in Kansas
What would you guys look for from a team series in kansas? Keep the tourneys in kansas?Full payback? No membership fees?No pre tourney meeting? No trophies?
To keep the overall cost of tourney down, travel, gas, fees, is the idea. Say, a five tourney series with a championship at the end?
What you think?

Only change I would make would be to fish it in Missouri http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/smile.gif
I've actually had considered something like that in the past.
First off be a NO entry fee's but would have side bets $10 each person for big bass and keep points for a plague at the end of the year for AOY.
Also not to repeat any lake in a calender year.
This would help keep all expenses down to minimal.

With things the way they are right now, keeping overall cost down for the anglers would be the number one incentive it would seem. All the tournaments taking place in kansas would help keep gas prices down and tournament lodging fees almost nonexistent. (not quite)
I would think to maximize participation, a person would want to try something new or different. Find one thing that makes your trail different, and market that big time.
Re: Ideas for a Team Series in Kansas (Bigbassbo)
Traveling between KS. lakes could cost just as much for an eastern Ks. guy as running to LOZ,Truman,Grand or Stockton.I guess it would depend on what lakes were on the schedule.Speaking of that is there a FOM schedule out for KS?
Re: Ideas for a Team Series in Kansas (Richard F.)
That's really why I asked. I have heard that FOM may be looking for a new director or fold. I liked the guys in that circuit and enjoyed fishing it.
Re: Ideas for a Team Series in Kansas (LOG)
I hardly ever fish in KS since I am so close to Oklahoma I would have to drive clear across KS to get to any of the lakes of any size besides Big Hill and El Dorado.
Keeping cost down and tournament fishing do not go hand in hand IMO.... it just isn't possible unless you live near a lake with lots of tournament and can fish at that lake most of the time.
Hell.... it takes me 1:40 to get to Big Hill, 1:00 to get to El Dorado and 1:15 to get to Sooner in Oklahoma.

Guess it depends on where you live. I'm less than 90 minutes from Perry, Hillsdale, Melvern, Pomona, Truman, LaCygne, Clinton, Smithville.
Re: Ideas for a Team Series in Kansas (hooks2bset)
Tournament costs are becoming too much. I can drive a mile from my house and fish our watershed for virtually nothing. Fishing there is much better than the Kansas lakes too.
Re: Ideas for a Team Series in Kansas (ksbasser)
If you just fished for big bass at $10 a person it wouldn't be worth it because that wouldn't cover hardly anything.
Re: Ideas for a Team Series in Kansas (LOG)
Exactly what the FOM was last year. Only changes I would make would be no pre tournament meeting, or at least have it at the end of the tournament before, payout more than one place. Keep them all in KS except maybe the end of year tournament, maybe cut down on the pay out and give plaques for the first 3 places and big bass. Have a membership fee to help cover your expenses as director (or at least some). Or you could just have a plaque for big bass and money only for the first 3 places. Lots of different options.

That's not good. Ive been really considering fishing that trail because of its more localized lakes.

Re: Ideas for a Team Series in Kansas (beetle)
that would be awesome but what lakes would we do? I would just do entry fees and pay back 100%. Unless you wanted to hold back 10% for the championship but my guess would be that not everyone would make it to every tx. I would just make the championship a bigger buy in.
Re: Ideas for a Team Series in Kansas (beetle)
We actually fished good lakes last year in KS at FOM. I think Perry was a bit early but other than that everyone caught fish.
Re: Ideas for a Team Series in Kansas (LOG)
I would fish that in a heart beat.

Re: Ideas for a Team Series in Kansas (LOG)
I wish there was a good trail in KS...I know there is Jackpot Buddy..but I used to fish KBAA and really enjoyed it. I think you would have to spread the tourneys over the lakes on the east and west, like Wilson, Cedar, Milford, and then pick a couple on the east side like Perry, Bg Hill, Melvern, Eldorado. The Bass Pass was put into place to really help KS tourney fisherman fish lakes that we wouldn't before due to the minimum keeper size lengths. Big thing is entry fee, you don't want it too high so you can draw a good number of boats...a 40 to 60 boat field would be about right. The Championship needs to be worthwhile as well whether you hold money back or get some sponsor to pump up the prize money. The championship should be a no-entry tourney and the number of qualifying teams being less than 50% of the series field. Say if you get around 10 to 15 boats in the championship you can have it on a smaller lake that has a greater population of fish.

http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif .... in Kansas.... do you think that is really possible? average 50 boats consistently http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/eek.gif
