Re: American Bass Anglers (getfished)
ABA fishing tour is a draw circuit which means your competing against the guy you draw as well as the rest of the competitors. One thing I liked about the draw circuit was if you had more boaters than non you could use your boat and fish by yourself. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif
Re: American Bass Anglers (Richard F.)
Thanks for the response. When you're competing against the guy in the back of the boat are there problems over who chooses what water to fish?
In the Weekend Series do the nonboaters only compete against other nomboaters?
thanks
Re: American Bass Anglers (getfished)
There can be but most times everything is worked out before you hit the water,if not then a flip of a coin is going to decide who does what.On the weekend series the non just does his or her own thing on the back deck because they are only competing against the other cos.

http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif ....... I consider the fishing tour a glorafied bass club. The weekend series is more like the BFL if you have ever fished them..... if I had my choice I would fish the weekend series. In that the boaters and non boaters aren't competing against each other and the boater has full control of the boat and fishing locations all day.

Richard have you ever had a problem with a NON in the ABA's? I have been lucky not to draw very many and the few times I have they never said a thing about where they wanted to go. Heck even when I drew Jim Clay over at Bone Creek he never said he wanted to go anywhere... he was just content with where I fished..... LOL... you remember that tournament, damn you Dusty http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/mad.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif
Re: American Bass Anglers (hooks2bset)
Thanks, now I think I get it. The entry fee is probably higher for the boater in the Weekend Series than it is in the Draw Series. Would that be right?
Thanks

Yes the fishing tour has the same entry fee for both non and boaters... the weekend series has a larger entry fee for the boater.....
Re: American Bass Anglers (hooks2bset)
The weekend series could also be considered a Pro - Am style event..... it is just that they call them boater and non-boater.
Re: American Bass Anglers (hooks2bset)
Thanks guys, I appreciate the info. I read the rules on their website and it's basically just like you said. I was just a little confused.
Seems like there are a lot of circuits to fish in. Do you think some of them will be folding in the next season or two on account of fuel prices?

I doubt it..... or atleast that is my opinion. ABA(fishing tour) is huge and has been around for damn near ever(use to be MBAA, Military Bass Anglers Association) so I doubt it will. The weeked series might close divisions or combine due to low turn out but I doubt it will ever fold. The BFL's (old Redman Tournaments)have been around forever and I mean forever also and will more then likely never fold either. The BFL's have a more loyal following from my experience since they have been around much much longer.
Fuel prices suck!

Re: American Bass Anglers (getfished)
I'm thinkin bout fishin the district 66 draw trail this year. Anyone have any insight?
This was my first year doing tournaments, fished 4 BFL's in Oklahoma (I was going to school in Pitt so it wasn't too bad of a drive but now I'm back in Wichita for good). Just lookin for somethin closer to home

I have heard alot of good things about the district. I am thinking about fishing them next year instead of 58 since El Dorado is only 1 hour for me.
I think Josh has fished a few of them and could give you a little more real info.... http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/popcorn.gif
Re: American Bass Anglers (hooks2bset)
You can't go wrong in fishing Dist 66 at El Dorado, Chad Williams and Terry Taylor run an OUTSTANDING tournament and would love to have you fish there circute. I fish Dist 66, 58, 122 and 128 and can say they all have OUTSTANDING folks in them. I highly recommend it, If you can make it to the Sep 14th at El Dorado I think you will have a BLAST. See you on the water. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/USA1.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/USA1.gif

Re: American Bass Anglers (hooks2bset)
So, another question. If I go in as a boater without a co-angler is it very likely I would be able to use my boat? Are there usually plenty of co-anglers or do I need to try to locate one for a link ?
