Guardian Angels plan Chapters in KC
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - The crime-fighting group Guardian Angels plans to open chapters in both Kansas Citys.
A Guardian Angels leader says he'll begin recruiting late this month by going into area neighborhoods in search of volunteers.
A minister in Kansas City, Kan., helping to establish Guardian Angels in the area says he hopes to have members on patrol next spring. Reverend Golden Davis says 12 to 24 people are needed to start a local chapter.
Kansas City, Mo., pastor Eric Williams says he'll work to integrate the organization with other community groups. He says he believes the group can make a difference, "one block at a time."
The Guardian Angels was founded in the 1970s by Curtis Sliwa to help keep New York City subways and neighborhoods safe.

Unarmed vigilantes....
Investigate how many of them are injured on patrol vs. how many crimes they deter?
I think the concept and idea are great on paper, but in real world setting where the bad guys don't play by the same rules, this is a disater waiting to happen.
The bad guys don't respect the police who are armed and have the powers of arrest, why would a couple of guys wearing vest make a difference?
