starter problem

Hey guys, quick question, the nut on top of my starter that holds the......dangit can't think of what it's called right now........gear that spins the flywheel on has come off on me twice today during long runs. luckily the nut, spring and spacer(?) were all still in side the cowling and with tha assistance of a kind stranger with vicegrips we were able to put it back on to make the long run back to the ramp. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/doh.gif Anyway can this be fixed or do I just need a new starter? Sarge that should be a nylon insert nut. Go to the BRP parts site at the top of the page and check it out there are 2 starters listed one is an American Bosch the other is a Prestolite. If you are lucky the AB starter has the Nut, spacer, spring gear combo. BRP list the nut at around $12.00 but you can go to a specialty nut shop and get one cheaper just bring it with you. If you have the Prestolite sit down as the assembly is about $130.
