Is it true that they have an over-the-counter warranty? I have one that has a broken tip that has been in the garage for years. Is that covered? Any Shimano retailer will just hand me a new one? Or is is "manufacturers defects" only. It's been so long I don't even remember how it happened, but I assume it was my fault. If not, it's now on the list of FOUR that I need to get to Tyson for repair. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/sick.gif
I believe if the dealer is a top shelf Shimano dealer (or something of that sort) that you can go in with a broken rod and get a new one. If they aren't that level of dealer then they send it in. I don't think they care whose fault it is for the most part. I bought a crucial crankbait rod in Cabelas because the salesman had me touch the tip to the butt. I was worried about breaking it and he said I could break my new rod over my knee and hand it to them and they would give me a new one.
I have had 3 crucials and used them hard and never had an issue so I guess that is what Shimano is banking on.
You might try calling Shimano USA. I had a Crucial with a broken rod tip and they sent me a new one and instructed me to cut up the old one into sections and ship it back to them with the postage paid return label, no questions asked. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif

Cut it up into section and it's cheaper to ship. I wish other rod manufactures would do that.
I have yet to break one of my falcon to test there warrenty but I did i did send one back that have a bad reel set. The only problem is that itnever made it there
