Nice work Jason, get that out at your lease?
Dad and I hunted this morning, but the 30 MPH north wind and rain but a damper on it. Got busted by two birds as I was fixing the decoy. Birds are still grouped up and really show no interest in much of anything right now.
Duff and I hunted tonight, came close on a good bird mixed in with a mess of hens, but then a coyote decided he would try and get some dinner. Missed him running away after he had scattered the birds.
Lots of season left. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif

It wasn't on our hunting lease. My neighbor, who is pretty cool, has a bunch of farm ground over by Culver, and he invited me out. Learned a pretty good trick yesterday, too. We heated a stock pot 1/2 full of water and epsom salts to about 150 degrees, dipped the turkey in it for about 30 seconds, removed it and all the feathers pluck really easy. This will be the first wild turkey I have ever cooked in a plucked state. It should be pretty tasty. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif

Do you usually skin them?
Re: Got my turkey today...... (Hydrilla Gorilla)
Yep. Pull the breasts and make jerky or fry, etc.... This will be the first Wild Turkey that I will get to roast with the skin on, just like a Thanksgiving turkey. I suppose a guy will have to have some Wild Turkey bourbon on hand to celebrate the occasion, don't ya think? http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif
