Transom Saver

Okay, here you go. Lock n Stow or traditional transom saver. Which one is good. The question I have with the lock n stow is this. Isn't the reason for the transom saver to take the weight off of the transom ? With the lock n stow how does that happen? I looked at the one Wheels had at the rally. He said the reason he got one was his motor was dancing around on the other and it stops that. But the weight issue is still there. Will the lock n stow cause stress cracks in your transom?

I have always heard there is more stress on your transom when running in the water than from trailering on the highway. If that's true, I would say the lock n stow would be the answer. I'm thinking about trying one.

Yep.....same debate........good and bad either way.........been told the bushings on the LnS were out but so do the ones on the old style but depends on how much pressure you put on them.

Biggest debate is that lock and stow only take load off the Hydrolic cylinder and sill allows transom to flex some.............of coarse noe one has proof of this but seems logical compared to having a rod that goes from lower unit to the trailer to stabilize the "boucing" effect that is sometimes agrued.

I've used the Lok N Stow on my 250 XS for the year and a half that I've owned the boat. NO PROBLEMS so far. I just read an article last night in Bass Club Digest that stated the traditional transom savers were designed before the newer composites were introduced into boats and went on to state that the newer type motor brackets such as the wedge, Lok N Stow, etc were better. I think you will find arguments for and against each product. Of note, my Lok N Stow is rated for a 225, but I use it on my 250 and again, I have had no issues to date.

Just curious, was thinking about the weight stuff. I bought one from Mike Dale on the misc. forum for $35 bucks. He is sending it to me.
