How to get out Recirculate Valves?
1995 Evinrude 200, I have been doing some much needed maintance and wanted to clean and check the recirc valves. I got it torn all the way down to the valves. I tried to use a piece of wire to push them out from the back side with no luck. I thought maybe the nipple check valve might need to come out for it to release but that didnt help either. Tried a small pick to catch the edge to pull it out failed there also. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? The manual says to use the wire, but that didn't work for me. All 6 are stuck in there. Any help would be great.

The recirc valves are screwed into the side of the crankcase. They are a one way valve and can't be repaired only replaced. The Check valves that are pressed into the front side of the crankcase can be popped out by using a taper pin that has been fabricated to fit inside the re-circ valve opening.

They pop out from the back.

i tried pushing mine outfrom the back and ended up punching through the 2nd one. i just bought a pick set from lowes and pried just under the edge(did dent the aluminum a lil) but got the others out much faster http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif
