Restart E-Tec after running out of GAS
I had the bad luck to run out of gas on the way back to a weigh-in http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/embarassed.gif . My fault for not switching tanks.
Anyway here is my ? why was the motor so hard to get started again? I pumped the ball hard several times and it did stay hard but motor would not start it would only fire long enough to disengage the starter. It took well over ten minutes to get her going again. Also does it hurt anything to run the fuel system dry at 5600 RPMs?
Re: Restart E-Tec after running out of GAS (GaryL)
Thats weird my E-tec was running out of gas a lot, I had a problem with the fuel pump. AFter running out of gas once I pumped the fuel bulb until tight she would fire right up again. This happened on many occasions until I had the rocker arm on the fuel pump replaced. My dealer said it was due to the california formulated gas? Might be something else wrong cause I ran out of gas many times before my fuel pump was replaced.

When you run a BRP DI or E-Tec out of fuel you fill the fuel system with air, on a V-6 it takes a bit of time to get the air out. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
It will not hurt the motor.
