Creel Surveys - how often are they conducted? I did one KY Lake Sunday

I had a KDFWR boat come up to me and ask questions about my catch. Didn't do any checks for license or anything like that, just wanted to know how many we had caught, how many we kept, average size, etc. I've seen a creel survey boat on Barren one time, but never KY Lake. Just curious how often they do that.

I've had them come up to me a couple time down there in the last couple of years.

I had one tie up to me one time on Rough while we were on a BIG school of hybrids. I'd catch one, toss it in his boat, he'd do his thing and release it, that went on for over an hour and at least 30 fish. I'm not sure how often they do it but I've seen them on just about every lake.

They found me on Taylorsville several years ago. I was wackin' hybrids with my girlfriend and actually had other boats watching us!! We were on the motherload I 'm telling you.

Out of nowhere comes the creel guys, I was ready to show them my license and hers too. He apologized for interupting us !!!! Just wanted the #'s and sizes, no license check. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif

It was pretty cool to have the state boys watch us SLAY them for 30 minutes.

we had a boat ask us during the Rally in may..

I've gotten stopped in May the past 4 years.

Got stopped at Rally this year as well.

I usually get stopped 2-3 times per year at Dale as well.

This boat didn't say "Creel Survey" on the side like most I've seen on other lakes before.

I was an aluminum boat with a big windshield, bimini top, and KDFWR logo on the side. He watched us for a while from a distance, which had me confused, but when he took the survey it then made sense.

Been done with me each of the last two years on Barren. Before that...never did it. Like you...did not check ANYTHING else...just asked questions about the fishing and what I was catching.

The guy that does the creel surveys here has been here for years. He always comes by my boat if he sees me on the water and chats a bit. He will work certain areas of both lakes for a week or two then move to another area...I see him a lot as I am on both lakes quite a bit...really nice fellow.

i see the guy on rough every weekend.he usually cruises back in long lick creek every time im back there,.Been a few yrs since ive seen the guy on nolin or even dale.though im sure they are there

I think he is good luck every time he has checked us we have had a 6lber to show him!!

He was down on the south end of Ky lake in May. Stopped by and chatted with me. If it's the same guy which from the description he said he';s been on the lake for about 30 years now. I was fishing an area and he said look to the northeast about 100 yards and there is an old grave yard over there. After he left so did I. I usually get checked 3-5 times a year. It is the same one most of the time. I think he likes talking. The last time was during the owners tournament
