Help With our Collegiate Club
My name is Aaron Combs and I'm president of our collegiate bass fishing club in Jackson,KY. While fishing down in Lewisville, TX during the Collegiate Championship we sunk our boat and it is being worked on right now. We was able to burrow a boat to fish the tournament in, thankfully!!. I was going to see if anybody would allow us to use their boat next week during the collegiate open on KY Lake. We will treat the boat with best of care and pay for any dmage if it happend. If there is anybody in this bass club that could help us you can call me at 606-272-2045.
Thank You, Aaron Combs
Re: Help With our Collegiate Club (A_C)
How did you sink your boat?
Re: Help With our Collegiate Club (A_C)
You sound like a guy that posted on another website yesterday(He was laughed at, a lot!):
This is Darrell Deaton, i fish for hazard community college out of hazard ky, we were down texas fishing in the college bass fishing national championship and had an accident and sank our boat in practice before the tournament, the waves got real big and the water just flooded our boat, a guy let us borrow his skeeter to fish the tournament out of. If anyone has a boat around ky lake that they would let us use it would be greatly appreciated. We will be taking out of Paris Landing State Park. If anyone has one give me a call at 606-398-4398, or 606-568-6352. If you cannot reach me call my partner aaron combs at 606-272-2045 Thanks alot
With a track record like you posted, you're not going to be getting a boat.
Re: Help With our Collegiate Club (A_C)
You should be asking for a volunteer with a boat to drive you around all day.

I'm sure someone would chauffeur you around for $100 plus gas per day http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
Re: Help With our Collegiate Club (artcarney_agr)
I'm having a hard time believing this...
Re: Help With our Collegiate Club (bplgocards)
Proper grammar and spelling goes a long way especially when requesting favors like these... Have you checked into renting a boat? I'm unfamiliar with the marinas around Kentucky Lake, but I would think you would be able to rent a boat to fish out of if all else fails. Good Luck!
Re: Help With our Collegiate Club (BassnBuck)
I was down in Texas at the Championship and these guys did actually sink their boat. Asking for a boat however is not the way to go about it though. Yall need to go straight to Mike Hastings or Wade Middleton with your problem and they will do what they can to help you out. I had a bad fuel pump last year down there for the open and they did what they could to help me out. Another way is to see if any volunteers would take you out in their boat. Also, a little late to be taking care of this issue I think.

If they charged them to drive them around Ky Lake, the driver would need a Captain's License. That is basically carrying passenger's for hire which requires an OUPV license on this lake.
If I was available this weekend, I would volunteer to drive them around for free...did it for a couple of young men from Purdue this past spring when they had an accident on the way down here and lost their ride.

What if they drove them around all day for free, and then sold them a really expensive lure afterward? http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif

Have an accident with them in the boat and see how much water that lie will hold in federal court. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
Re: Help With our Collegiate Club (Alliston64)
We was headed back to the dock to load up for the day and when we hit the main lake seven footers was rolling. We rode the waves out till my motor shut down, once the motor shut down waves just kept rolling over the boat and the bilge pump had quit working eailier that day.

I have insurance - don't see that being an issue.
On the same subject - if FLW pays a guy to drive around a cameraman in his personal boat, does he have to be a certified captain?
Re: Help With our Collegiate Club (Dave Stewart)
We appreciate the kindness and we would be more than glad to pay somebody to take us out and pay for the gas. So many people is so disrespectful about things, I mean this is how we was able to get a boat down in Texas after the accident.

If you havent already, you really need to contact mike hastings or wade middleton. They will do what they can to get you a boat for the tournament. They did it for me last year. If there is a way, they will find it. Hope to see yall down there, leaving sunday morning.

Your insurance is not worth a penny when carrying a passenger for hire unless you have a business liability policy...as far as the FLW boat...depends on what they are paying...his expenses or a fee....the law is the law. Of course it only applies if you get caught...kind of like your drinking on the water you like to brag about...sooner or later.

http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/doh.gif I don't brag about it. I always designate a driver if I'm doing that. That's what women are for! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif
Re: Help With our Collegiate Club (artcarney_agr)
Here is the law that references the requirement for a Captain's license re receiving money:
Section 2101 of title 46, (21a) of the United States Code defines passenger for hire as follows:
A Âpassenger for hire means a passenger for whom consideration is contributed as a condition of carriage on the vessel, whether directly or indirectly flowing to the owner, charterer, operator, agent, or any other person having an interest in the vessel.
Section 2101 of title 46 (5a) defines Âconsideration as an economic benefit, inducement, right, or profit including pecuniary (fancy attorney word for money) payment accruing to an individual, person, or entity, but not including a voluntary sharing of the actual expenses of the voyage, by monetary contribution or donation of fuel, food, beverage, or other supplies. Additionally, employees or business clients that have not contributed for their carriage, and are carried for morale or entertainment purposes, are not considered as an exchange of consideration.
