Re: IN/KY Rally VI, KY Lake (Mike Daleo)

Re: IN/KY Rally VI, KY Lake (RangerRodney)
Drew (drewboy32) and I were lucky enough our secondary pattern held up. We could only catch one fish deep. I really enjoyed the dinner next time I want to come early and get to spend a little more time getting to know everyone.

Re: IN/KY Rally VI, KY Lake (Mike Daleo)
It was probably the best rally yet. Thanks to everyone who made it possible. A great bunch of folks! http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif
Re: IN/KY Rally VI, KY Lake (Mike Daleo)
Had a great time and it was good to see a lot of ol friends and meet some new ones.
Wish I had been able to come over on Thursday and Friday as I normally do but had to work to make up trips lost due to the flood.
Kyle and I would like to personally thank Craig and Dawn for the Knob Creek and Craig's homemade brandy... http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif We both paid for it on Saturday but had a great time on Friday night.... http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif
Undoubtably there were more boats than I can ever remember seeing on the lake on a non holiday weekend before Labor Day. By the time Kyle and I got on the water (around 8:00...something to do with the Knob Creek and Brandy the night before), there was 3 boats on every ledge and point fishing and 200 pleasure boats trying to run over us.... http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif Since we were not seriously fishing anyway and people were trying to run us over we got off the water around 11:00 so we could get a nap before the weigh-in (probably something to do with the Knob Creek and Brandy again also... http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif )
Was back out working yesterday and not nearly as bad out there for boats although the big cruisers and pleasure boats were out early on Sunday morning which is unusual. Was doing a tourney prep yesterday running ledges on the north end and we were able to fish 12 prime ledges on the run and gun and caught fish on 11 of them real quick....gives you an idea of the difference between how many anglers were out there Sunday vs Saturday.
Was glad to see some good fish were caught by the rally Saturday and everyone was safe.
I heard some folks talking about this at the weigh-in and I totally agree that we should give some serious thought about having the rally tournament on Friday rather that Saturday in the future....would be a lot less hectic on the water for sure.
Thanks also to everyone that worked hard to put the Rally together and make it a great success.... http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/bows.gif

Re: IN/KY Rally VI, KY Lake (Mike Daleo)
I would hate to see it on Friday....would put us working people completely out of it... http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/crying.gif Not that we had a chance anyways though http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif
The last weekend in April might be a better alternative than a Friday tourney...might be fewer dead fish too..... http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/sick.gif
Re: IN/KY Rally VI, KY Lake (artcarney_agr)
That was the weird part our dead fish was caught on a crankbait. when we put him in the box there was a little blood from him, (he wasn't caught deep or deep in the mouth or under tounge) next thing we know he is dead. I haven't ever lost a fish with the air intakes my livewells have. it was weird.
Re: IN/KY Rally VI, KY Lake (Zach G)
zach those girls don't live very long in the wells this time of year. too tired from spawning. Right now is the worst time for fish kills in livewells.
Re: IN/KY Rally VI, KY Lake (Zach G)
Post spawn fish are easily stressed and worn out. That had to be why they were dying.

Not all were post spawn - two of them had eggs http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/crying.gif

That sucks, must be the funk in Zach's livewell then http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif
Re: IN/KY Rally VI, KY Lake (Mike Daleo)
Our limit came from 12' deep. Four floated up but were acting lively. I had ice and rejuvinate in the wells. I just didn't undestand it. Both of our big fish were post spawn http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/ohwell.gif
Re: IN/KY Rally VI, KY Lake (jseasor)
if you look at the pic above it makes sense, those four fish had bloody tails, the big fish was a post spawner.
Re: IN/KY Rally VI, KY Lake (Zach G)
not exactly a waste.....clean them jokers fillet them and give them a hot oil bath with some corn meal.... http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/stirthepot.gif

Picked up 6 - able to revive 2 - put 4 in the freezer. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif

Food for thought. sorry for the pun http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif
I am sure the fish that had died would have made some of the people that were fishing on the dock at the ramp very happy. It sucks to see dead bass floating in the harbor.I am sure if you asked anyone around fishing, they would have taken them. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif

I'm all for a Friday T. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif
Despite the fact that I'm a working people and have to use vacation days to get to KY, I still think it would be better to have less boat traffic out there.
