Any boat carpet/wax guys here in W. Kentucky?
Two things:
1. I give up on waxing my boat. I've been using a dual compound rubbing compound/wax made by 3M for the past year. Well, it makes my boat look great for about 3 days and then the sucker will oxidize worse than before. My question is: does anybody on this board wax/restore gel coats? If so, and you live within 2 hours of Hopkinsville, there's a good chance you have my business.
2. Time for some new boat carpet. Mine's starting to show its age. I've thought about trying to do it myself, but after reading all the threads here on BBC about re-carpeting, I really don't think I have the time or patience for that. It looks like a helluva undertaking. So, who here re-carpets boats for a living within 2 hours of Hoptown?
Thanks.

As far as carpet goes, a few of us on here have done it ourselves. Below is the link to my project. Greg paschal did it recently. he did a great job. There are many who install for you but they are pricy.

Notice who posted first on your thread? LOL
Anyway, I'm just so worried about messing something up. Also, how long does it take? Can it be done in a weekend or does it take several?

I think for the money I would try it myself. The labor is going to be about 5 times the cost of the carpet.

Kyle,
I will help you....if you buy the beer. Plus it would be good experience for me, so when I need to do it, I will buy the beer. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif

If you have the time it would not take long at all. If you do it the way we did, in two hour intervals, it will take a couple of weeks. I think it is easily a 3 day project for an amateur like me anyway. I think it ended up costing less than half of what it would have, but the beers cost me much more.

Bob, that's awesome. Thanks! As soon as I can mover her into my buddy's warehouse so we have some space to work. I'll give him a ring and see what his timeframe is.

I'm not too worried about the cost of the beer. I figure all Bob can handle is about 2 or 3 per day. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif

IF you sre still looking for someone to re-clear your boat and do a nice job on the carpet...Try Doug Meyer in Shepherdsville. He is onemorecast56 on this board. I just bought a boat he redone. It looks very good. Others have really bragged on his work too on other boards. He is a good guy and prices are good too.

A friend of mine to used Doug to re carpet his boat. He done a good job at a fair price. I have only met Doug one time. That was when I stopped buy his shop/house one day to pay him a visit when he was putting carpet on my friends boat. He showed me a boat that he had bought for resale. He was doing a carpet install, wet sanding and spraying new clear coat. He was not through with the wet sanding so I can not speak for what his clear coat job looks like.

I`d be more then glad to price the job for you. I`m doing a Ranger 375 and building him a deck ext. I did Dave Stewert`s Ranger and he says it still looks good. I was wondering how my other jobs has turned out on peoples boats on here..
