The state record musky was caught today at Cave Run. 47 lbs. just shy of 54". had a 27 inch girth i believe. A 14 year old girl caught it. her father is a guide on the lake. I received the following email from Tom Clay last night concerning this fish...WHAT A FISH!!
I received a call this evening 11/02 7:45pm from Crash Mullins at Cave Run Lake, Morehead, Ky that a 14 year old Mt. Sterling, KY girl has landed a muskie that has broke the state record. According to Crash, they have weighed the fish twice and both times it has posted a reading of more than that of the the current state record of 44.5 pounds. The muskie, according to Crash is 54 inches long and has a girth of 26inchs. The fish should reach close to 47pds. The fish came out of the Claylick area of the lake. Fish &Wildlife personnel will have to verify the weight on Monday. For information on this late breaking record and record verification, you can contact David "Crash" Mullins at 606-780-4260. If it is the state record, then I guess Cave Run truly is the Muskie Capitol of the South. More info to follow on this weeks KNN Outdoors. tc
pictures of the fish on the lake in the boat are coming soon....this fish was a hatchery fish. from what i understand it was missing its right fin and they are guessing its a hatchery fish from 1994 or 1990. amazing!!!

It's truly a wonderful accomplishment for anyone but even more amazing that it was a young lady. Kudos to her!! Well I'm thankful she caught it out of a Ranger we sold new here at Day's. BUT, I'm even more happy that Cave Run now can start having a decent bass population since that beast is no longer in there eating everything that moves!LOL!

mary what a great fish!!! Congrats once again to Scott and sarag. Lance is good friends with scott and says it couldn't of happened to better people. That makes it all worth the while for us. I'm not a musky fisherman like the majority of my family is, however i do enjoy the trips and the laughs with them. How does she top this??? Either way, congrats to them and yourself.
