Found a dog today

I was heading to Persimmon ridge Golf Course this afternoon and at a 3-way stop there was a dog wandering in the road. It was just not getting out of the way of cars so we stopped and tried to help. It was a black adult pit bull with a leash who had been abandoned out there. There worst part was that it was missing one eye and blind in the other. That explained the walking in circles in the middle of the street. I am not one of these people who thinks animals are the same as people, but that is total BS. The owner should have his eyes poked out and be left on the highway.

Anyway, I call the Humane society which has lots of offices in the Louisville area and they basically tell me I need to call animal control. Whatever. Thanks alot for the help.

We ended up walking it over to a house and they kept it. Very rough looking folks, the last people you would think would help anyone, but they took this dog right in.

I wonder why pit bulls are so misunderstood?

Mike in one word the Media and all the ones being used for Dog fighting specially now with the Vick crap.
They are very sweet dogs and very lovable if raised right, only big problem with them is they do NOT like other dogs. Trapper I knew in Wyoming came back in one time and he had a pit that had tangled with a porky pine....only dog I ever saw who just laid there and let us pull all the quills out of her muzzle without making a sound or moving around a lot.

Ed, I was shocked when we approached this dog and he was totally unaggressive. he didn't necessarily want our help, but he was not defending himself at all. Almost had given up. Pretty sad no matter how vicious they can get.

I have always had the opinion that if there is even a small chance that a certain type of dog could be aggressive toward children, or anyone for that matter, then they have no place in a home. Or a metro area for that matter. I guess this just gets worse when you have dirtballs breedding them to fight and hurt.

Mike I truely believe that any dog can be "made" to be mean. Now with that being said some have more aggression in 'em than others but it's so sad how certain breeds have been made out to be "killers" when in fact it's the idiots that raised them that made 'em this way. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/crying.gif
