What to do in Louisville, KY....
The wife and I are heading to Louisville from our house in Ashland for Labor Day weekend. What kind of stuff is there to do there. We are making this a get away weekend from our kids and a small honeymoon trip. What kind of stuff is there to do that is on the romantic and special side. Also maybe a good place to stay would be nice also. Can anyone help?

Riding the Belle is always neat. The revolving restaurant on top of the Galt House is pretty interesting. The houses in Old Louisville are pretty impressive to see. The Slugger Museum and the Derby museum are interesting. The Howard Steamboat Museum in Jeffersonville is pretty interesting too. The Seelbach hotel has a pretty good website with links to a lot of things to do: http://www.seelbachhilton.com/....html
I grew up there, so it all seems boring to me. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/ohwell.gif

If the River Bats are in town and you like baseball that would definitly be a place to spend a few hours. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif

depends on what you like and dislike. 4th street live is filled with bars and entertainment. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif

The Glass Factory is always an interesting thing to tour. Sometimes they have programs to where you can go and actually blow glass. My girlfriend and I made Christmas ornaments last week - I thought it was going to be kind of gay, but it was actually really interesting and fun!
4th Street Live has several restaurants to eat at, as well as dancing. Omalley's Corner is also a fun place to visit, especially Vinnie's if you want to get your disco dancing on!
Captain's Quarters restaurant has outside dinning that makes for a good place to see a sunset.
A simple stroll along the riverfront is always a hit with my woman. During the day you can rent some of those weird bicycles, I've never done that, but it looks like fun.
A tour of Churchill Downs is always nice if you've never been before.
As for hotels, the Marriot downtown is very nicely located within walking distance of nearly everything I've mentioned, except for Churchill Downs and Captain's Quarters. The Hampton Inn, The Galt House, and The Courtyard are some other choices.
Ceasar's Casino isn't but maybe 10 or 15 minutes from downtown if you feel the need to throw the dice or play a little poker!

You could drive across the river, take the short drive to Floyds Knob, Indiana and watch John Hibbard polish the 20" wheels on his Escalade. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/glasses.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif

Better yet, keep driving down 64, go to French Lick and rub elbows with some laid back country folk. They have a nice resort with a golf course that has greens that will make you wish you were fishing, and they have a nice spa for your wife.
