Tennessee Retirement info
Guys my wife and I are driving to Lawrenceburg in 3 weeks to look for land to buy for a retirement home.We would like to be in that general area due to low cost of living. We hope to buy 10-20 acres and move to Tenn in 9 more years.Any ideas of other small towns to look into, many thanx,Mike

I would try clarksville, Springfield or West TN. You would be close to KY and Barkley lakes. We have a couple of guys from this area, they should help you out. If you want to live in KY, I would suggest cadiz KY. Very small town, 1hr and 15 minutes to Nashville. 30 minutes to Clarksville and 20 minutes to Hopkinsville. It would be on Barkley in 5-10 minutes or Kentucky 15-25 minutes. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif

I like East TN better myself, I am still only 4 hours from KY lake but within 2 hours of Douglas, Cherokee, Watts Bar, Chickamauga, Dale Hollow, Percy Priest, Center Hill, Cordell Hull, Old Hickory, Tims Ford and several others.

I'd look a little futher north for more fishing options but that's just me. Use http://www.realtracs.com to search for yourself. I've said before in another post. If you need a realtor/auctioneer that could definitely help you out just shout. She specializes in northern middle TN and southern KY and does alot of mini farms and such. She owns the company and will definitely treat you right. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif
Re: Tennessee Retirement info (Purple Haze)
I don't remember specifically what city but several years ago Money Magazine picked the Kentucky Lake Area as one of the best places in the US to retire based on, cost of living, climate things to do etc., etc. Kentucky and Tennessee have an abundance of beautiful lakes and scenery. You probably couldn't go wrong with either.
However, if you are interested in college basketball neither state has a much of a team. Ooops! I almost forgot about Vanderbelt and Tennessee's Ladies Team! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif

Re: Tennessee Retirement info (Purple Haze)
someone mentioned clarksville.....it's great here. only a short drive from both KY, and barkley lakes. you can actually get land cheaper around barkley than you can here in clarksville. look around dover, bumpus mills, and woodlawn....for KY lake, look around paris landing or big sandy. you can't go wrong with any of these.
Good luck with you hunt for the new homestead.
