I am having an issue with my tach. It does not seem to.be reading right. It seems to read fine at idle, right around 800rpm, but at wide open it reads like 8100rpm. I know I am not turning it that high as my inner parts would ne outer parts. What might cause a tach to read off that much?
Motor is a 1990 gt150. Gauge is a teleflex. Thanks.
On the back of the tach there is a pulse setting, check to see if it is set on 6.
Will do that. Also heard I could try moving that switch back and forth a couple of times. Could ththe tach itself be bad? Or is there anything else that could cause these symtoms? I have a tourney on sun, and hoping to be fixed for that.
Put a meter on the battery posts and check the voltage, Connect the muffs and start the motor. Check the voltage at idle and if you can bump the RPM's up. If the voltage shows an increase then everything is working fine if not you have a voltage problem.,.
