Thanks Dave!

I saw where Dave posted a report in the thread below but wanted to post this so everybody knows what kind of guide he is.

My dad is a 65 year old retired cop/military and has his knees replaced and has acquired extremely bad diabetes in the past few years. He does not move around very well anymore. He is not much of a fisherman and knows zilch about bass fishing but he took me fishing as a kid and caused me to have this fishing disease that I have so we try to fish together when we can. Since he has had all these leg issues and I have started tourney fishing we have not been fishing together in two or three years. Pops has never caught a bass over 2 pounds and has never caught more than two or three in one day.....ever.

Well, Dave had a late cancellation and since I did not have to work the Derby this year for the first time in 12 years I thought it would be fun to take Dad out with Dave for his birthday. I told Dave that I did not care about learning anything about the lakes, techniques, etc and that I just wanted to see if we could get Pops catching some bass. I warned Dave about Dad's mobility problems and off we go.

First two hours....blue bird....no wind.....not even I could catch fish so you know it was tough. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif Dave starts working his tail off. At about 11 am he finds em. We proceed to stay in one area and catch about 25-30 fish. Our best five would have weighed somewhere around 18 pounds http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/eek.gif which made me salivate but Pops could have cared less about all of that. All he knew was that he was catching more bass than he had ever had and had caught at least four fish bigger than anything he had ever caught. He had a four pounder and you would have thought he caught an anchor fish for KVD. The fish were biting so well I even made Dave fish with us (he usually does not fish) and we all proceeded to catch fish the rest of the afternoon. They started telling old military and cop stories so I just let the old guys talk while I stuck keepers. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif Dave even lost a really good fish....just cause he can find em does not mean he can catch em. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif Pops spent the rest of the evening showing everybody his "bass thumb" that he did not even have since Dave took off all of his fish. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/eyes.gif

Dave always goes beyond what other guides do but this time he not only showed how professional he is as a fishing guide but also treated one of my family members like a life long friend and I really appreciate it.

Buck I had a great time with you and your dad. Your dad is one heck of a nice guy and I am certainly glad to have a new friend especially one that spent his life in service to his country and community. I can sure see a lot of him in you and that is a credit to him and good for you.

I was also down at Ky Lake this weekend and it was not easy getting fish in the boat. The blue bird skies definitely made things pretty tough but we found some fish as well. I pulled in a monster size fish he just did not have any weight on him.

Friday was not bad most of the fish where being pulled out of the back of Jonathon Creek.

Saturday was pretty slow early in the day but clouds moved in that evening so we caught several fish up on the banks and in shallow flats.

Sunday we had some rain but the fishing was still pretty slow which means there where some slow gaps in between hooking fish.

That's awesome Buck!!! My dad was in very similar shape and age as your dad...and we got him out whenever and however possible..this is our first season without him and I will always remember those father son days on the lake!!!

Jamie...he is wearing that Reds shirt to be a smartarse. He is a Cardinals fan (notice the hat).
