85 xp 150 bogging / no power at all
I have a 85 xp 150 (E150 stlcos) that has a bad bogging problem. It was just bogging while trying to get on plane. I know it's getting fuel. I have checked all the lines for possible air leaks. This weekend I could hardly get it to start when I backed it into the lake. When it did start it acted like it was hitting on half the cylinders. My first thought was a power pack but I am not a mechanic. What could it possibly be? Can a power pack be tested?
As always any help is appreciated!
Thanks!

go to your nearest auto parts store and get a spark tester see if you are getting a good spark on all cylinders if so then it may be your carbs, fuel,or even electricial issues do a compression check as well

What is puzzling is that sometimes it does run like it's supposed to.

That's how a power pack will do ya.

I was afraid of that. Is there a way to check a power pack?

yep but you will need a dva adapter and multimeter if its only fireing on some cylinders more than likely it is a power pack issue you have two so just replace the side thats not fireing all three makesure you get the same power pack number
