I have had an issue with my trailers running lights. The ones that are on when the headlights are put on when its dark. Originally they worked but now not. I have several trailers and this is constant. This leads me to beleive the issue is at the plug on the tow vehicle side. I've checked every single fuse in several locations. To no avail. My wiring seems tight so I'm really at a loss on what exactly is causing this. The tow veh. is a 2003 Dodge Dakota.
Yep, strip fresh ends and rewire the plug. Especially as your in a salty/brackish area???
Are the lights LED? Also where the trailer plug is spliced into the tail light wires, they often use those stupid clips that come undone and the wire can come out.
I trailer with a 2004 Dakota and when I first got my boat I had a similar problem with the running lights it turned out to be a bad ground.Make sure the white wire is properly grounded to the truck on the truck side of the connector.Also make sure the white wire is properly grounded to the trailer.
