Power Pack...OMC vs CDI??
Guys,
I am replacing my power pack and wanted opinions on whether to go with the OMC or an aftermarket one. The OMC is 325 + shipping and the CDI is 210 with free shipping, so there is considerable difference in price. BUT, if the CDI is not as good quality then I will pay the differece and go with the better product. What are your opinions??
Thanks guys

the omc will probably be a cdi unit

I did call Evinrude/Johnson and they said the original part number has been superseeded by a newer part number. I guess the new part number could represent a different manufacterer. Is this normal for older outboards?
Thanks guys

It really depends on the application.

Thanks guys, now I need to make the fix so I can get back out on the lake!

the biggest difference between the two packs is the Evinrude one has a one year parts AND labor warranty through BRP that a dealer can change on the spot. The CDI pack has a 2 years parts but NO labor warranty and it has to be sent back to the factory for approval first if you think it failed during the warranty period.
