Replacing Disc Brake Pads
Ive got an 03 Marine Master Tandem Axle Trir. Just wondering what is involved in changing the disc brake pads? Is it similar to the same process as for changing car disc brakes? Anything different to look out for? Finally where can I order the replacement pads from? Sorry for all the questions.
Re: Replacing Disc Brake Pads (bigbasser54)
The 1991 Plymouth Acclaim, or Dodge Daytona front pads are replacements. Go to ufpnet.com and download the booklet for the DB-42 brakes. Replacement pads or an upgrade kit is available from UFP also. Call 1-800-835-9211 ext 11 or 16.
Re: Replacing Disc Brake Pads (DABS)
Thanks for the help, I went to this site http://ufpnet.com/Home/tabid/36/Default.aspx
The only booklet I could find is for the DB-35 brakes am I missing something, can you post the link? Thanks.
Nick
Re: Replacing Disc Brake Pads (bigbasser54)
If all you are doing is replacing the pads it is easier than a car.
Bleeding the brakes is a PIA but not to difficult.
The Plymouth brakes are what worked for me as wello, but I did have to grind the rivets and remove a bracket off the back of the pads to use them.

Here is a link to the DB-42 brake manual.

Re: Replacing Disc Brake Pads (Toypuller)
Looks easy enough, thanks for the help. One question though there is no mention on using a c-clamp to push the piston back in the caliper as done in an auto brake job, is this not needed?
Re: Replacing Disc Brake Pads (bigbasser54)
Use a screwdiver to push them slightly apart when you remove them. Do it from the back of the caliper. (it is easy to see where)
Once you have it off you use a clamp to push the piston side in for install. Only 1 piston and caliper is on a slide.
