Re: Tow Vehicle (dtaylor52)
Many tow with all of the choices you listed. Just make sure they have the tow package or at least a tranny cooler and you'll be fine. Find the best deal. Heck, I towed a 20' lead sled with an Explorer for years. Never a problem with the SUV.

The standard 5.3 and 5.4 motors look comparable. The GMs have a little more HP, but a little less torque. I much prefer a long wheelbase for a tow vehicle. I sometimes tow with my FatherÂs short bed GMC and it has a lot more front-to-rear rocking motion compared to towing with my long bed Ford.

I too prefer a long wheelbase tow vehicle. Last November I traded my '04 Tahoe with the 5.3L engine for an '04 GMC Yukon XL Denali (Suburban twin) with the 6.0L engine. I've previously towed with a couple different F-150s, two Suburbans, and the Tahoe. The Denali is absolutely the very best tow vehicle I've ever owned.
