Anyone using the Oetiker / PEX type clamps, if so opinions please, good bad or ugly?

Anyone using the Oetiker / PEX type clamps, if so opinions please, good bad or ugly?

I know they use them in the automotive industry for high pressure fuel injection systems, I would imagine that they would be plenty strong enough for almost any boat application. Couldn't really see any problems that would arise from using them, other than possible scratching the gel coat if you used it on a line against the boat.

Evinrude uses Oetiker clamps in all the E-TECs

That is what I have noticed since acquiring my new E-TEC. At first I was having a difficult time locating them but found them at Home Depot in the plumbing department, in the Sharkbite clamps packages tray. They are stainless and are made by PEX. At any rate, it is good to know that they can be found at other places except the dealer.

Which style Oetiker clamp does Evinrude use? There are kits available that aren't very expensive and come with Knipex crimpers. <u>http://www.alexgs.com/oetiker-18500060.html</u> Looking at Oetiker's site they have a couple of styles, stepless 1 ear etc.
