Re: Rage Broadheads (blazin461)
me and my bro in law have them in our quivers this fall... so far we are 1 for 1 with devasting results
Re: Rage Broadheads (Stratos201basser)
Unless a blade is tightly wedged in the closed position, I cant imagine that it wouldn't open. I shot 2 deer last year with the 3 blades, first deer ran 30 yards and died immediately. Second deer, liver shot, ran 80 and layed down for an hour before he put his head down for good. Awesome broadheads!
Re: Rage Broadheads (Capw)
if you go over to the at boards, you'll read quite a few complaints
Re: Rage Broadheads (moto)
IMHO THEY SUCK....i had some bad luck with them, i am sure if you don't hit any bone what so ever they should do fine but i shot a dall sheep with one in the "shoulder blade" not the hard part of the shoulder and it went in about 1/4"...i have blown through shoulder blades on deer with fixed blade i will never shoot another mechanical to much risk and according to my buddy that butchers 700 deer a year fixed blades are the only way

"at" boards??? Is this a new board I didn't see?
Re: Rage Broadheads (blazin461)
Brad Ferris and Will Primos say they have been using mechanicals' for years and have had tremendous success with them. Those guys hunt far more days out of a season than most any of us. I consider those guys the "KVD's" of deer hunting and if they are using them to date, then I will stay with my plan to use them this year. No disrespect to those who don't like em, and have had a problem, but I think there is greater success than failure with these Rage broadheads. I don't think hitting a deer in the shoulder is an ideal shot placement. Granted, it can happen even when you don't aim there, but I always aim for 4" to 6" behind the shoulder, and even at 35 to 40 yards, (I never shoot farther than 40 yards out) I have never hit a shoulder yet in 15 years of bow hunting. Gun shot to the shoulder is a totally different scenario.
Re: Rage Broadheads (blazin461)
i shot 2 deer with them last year, 1 ran 30 yards and the other @ 15. i have shot 1 deer so far this year and she ran 30 yards also. i use the 2 blade model and they are awesome.
Re: Rage Broadheads (MasterCASTER!)
I have the 3 blades for now, but have not had an opportunity to use one as of yet. Once I see how the 3 blades do, I will try the 2 blade.
Re: Rage Broadheads (blazin461)
I really do not think the are the "KVD's" of hunting. When you are product sponsored and endorsed, you kinda gotta go with who pays the bills. And yes they have had success because they can not tell you they have had failures cause that does not sale products. No a stright shoulder shot may not be #1, however it is going to happen at some time, and as ethical hunters we owe it to the animals we pursue to use the best measures for a clean harvest, even if it is not a perfect shot. No matter what you use, if you bow hunt long enough, you will lose an animal,,this I PROMISE!

I've been using the Rage 2 blade since they came out and have had awesome results

I agree with your ethical view on bow hunting. However, when I said that Ferris and Primos are the KVD's of hunting, I meant they are professional (That's how they make their living) hunters. Yes, if they are sponsored (paid) to advertise a product, they will promote it's use and positive result because they are paid to do so even IF they don't really use it as a primary piece of equipment. JUST AS a pro angler is PAID to promote and a given product and may rarely use it during a tournament, only when the camera is rolling do they promote how good a product is.
Re: Rage Broadheads (blazin461)
We have been using the RAGE 2 for a couple years now and the results have been devastating. The entrance and exit holes are huge and the blood trails have been impressive to say the least. My son shot one through the shoulder blade last year at 53# no problem. Of the 4 we have shot with RAGE none have went over 40-50 yards. Great mechanicl IMO. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif
Re: Rage Broadheads (BucksnBass525)
I shoot the 3-blade rage and I am 8 for 8 with devestating results. I have NEVER had a penetration problem and out of 8 deer I have hit my share of bone. I have broke 2 blades but I have also broke blades on fixed heads as well.
Re: Rage Broadheads (Longrodder)
Just shot another buck today with the RAGE. We have harvested 5 deer with this head and all have fallen within eyesight. Very devastating broadhead.
Re: Rage Broadheads (BucksnBass525)
I never liked expandables and I haven't used the rage, but I recall reading some other posts about them not opening up, I shoot NAP nightmares and have just as good of exit and entrance holes as any expandable I have seen pics of and I really don't see the need to ever shoot an expandable blade. If I were you, I would try a NAP blood runner. Its a hybrid fixed balde that on contact pushes back and expands to something like 1.5" cutting diameter or more.

Re: Rage Broadheads (Iowa93champ)
Expandable broadheads were developed to cut down on the aerodynamics of the broadhead. I have never used them because I shoot a bow that only gets about 212 feet per second. If you are shooting over about 280 feet per second you should probably be using some type of expandable. This year I expect to buy a new, faster, bow and will probably go to the rage. The greatest majority of reviews are positive and you can always find someone who doesn't like anything. The real KVD of bowhunting is Chuck Adams. The only animal that I have ever killed that went into Pope and Young was an antelope in 2001. That year Chuck entered twelve different animals. Oh yeah, he's a freelancer too.
Re: Rage Broadheads (blazin461)
i have had alot of success out of them
