My son is 10 yrs. old and really enjoys target shooting with the cheap bow he got for Christmas. We dont hunt any. I would like to get him a nice bow and both the Genesis and Mission Menance are what I have been looking at. Could someone give me some opinions on these or other bows?

Whats his draw lenth and poundage ya'll looking for?
If it will fit him the Alpine Micro Extreme is a heck of a fine bow!
His draw length is 21. The little bow he has now is about 16lbs just before it breaks. I'm not real sure what poundage we are looking for. I just dont want to get something that he will only use for a litttle while and outgrow. I know the Genesis does not have a specific draw length. For some reason I'm just not sold on it.
I looked at some Bear Truth 2 youth bows Sunday, They were pretty sweet too! As long as the bow has changable modules you should be good until he out grows what ever poundage bow you get.
Deffinantlly go to a bow shop with a good reputation and let them fit him to a bow!
When I started shooting bow i shot a Person. If he likes to shoot he may like to shoot leagues or 3-d events that how i got my passon for bow hunting might do the same for him. Remember a kid in the woods or on the water is better than one on the streets.

I was just reading a column on this topic where the writer listed the Truth 2 and the Menace as being his top choices esp. if your boy ever decides to try hunting. He also recommended carbon arrows and a whisker biscuit to complete the package. The only positive he had for the Genesis was it's adjustability. Just passing it along.
My son shot a Browning Micro Midas for a few years, awesome youth bow. I'm not sure what the mninimum draw weight you are looking for but they are worth a look.

We got our son the Mathews Genesis a few years back...it's a nice bow that grows with him.....but by the way he's growing it might be time for a new one http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
