1996 johnson 225 - won't tilt/trim up after winter
So I pulled the cover off the boat and motor this weekend and hooked the battery up (which is showing to have a full charge). The motor was trimmed down over the winter so any condensation could drain. When I hit the button on the motor to trim it up, all i get is a hum but no movement. I tried trimming it down which does work but very slowly. I haven't ruled out the battery yet even though it's showing a full charge. Any suggestions on where to start with this issue?

Thanks in advance

no expert here, but sounds like your low on fluid....being that it will go down but not up. unfortunately , you have to get the motor raised up to access the fluid resevoir......the best way yo do this is get another person to help you ....sound like something you would want to try ???? or you may want to take it to a shop???

I'll try checking that, i'd like to avoid having to take this thing into the shop...my wallet still hurts from having the carbs rebuilt last year. Pulled out the factory manual and located the manual release for the trim unit. I'll try to get it lifted up this weekend so I can take a look at the fluid level.

your on the right track, be careful that motor weighs a lot. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif
