Last my vro pump quit oiling and blew my motor up. I rebuilt it and started pre mixing. I liked the convience of the oil injection but don't trust The vro sytem any more. The pump was only 6 months old when it quit. Is there a better system I can add to my 92 E200stlens?
Generally, The VRO system does not give any issues. Not saying it doesn't happen but alot of the time it gets the blame for the engine blowing up when in reality it is another issue MOST OF THE TIME. Not saying that is what happened to yours, just in general. What exactly malfunctioned on the pump? Did the diaphragm bust on the air motor side? Lose pulse to the motor? Did the alarm go off>? I think you will find hands down that this is the only system that will work like it should on your motor.
No there was no alarm. There was oil in the tank and it was primed before take off. I'm not sure what malfuctioned but there was no oil in my motor or carbs when they where disassembled.
Did one cylinder blow or the whole engine?
Did the alarm horns sound when the key was turned to the on position each and every time? I had a good one almost pulled on me following a re-build it did and found it by accident. Luckily it was on a system check motor or I never would have found it. When I turn the key to the on position the gauge would cycle through but wouldn't light the low oil light, I replaced the gauge but then when I hooked up the VRO harness I noticed I wasn't getting a good seat at the connectors. Someone had put a piece of shrink tube on the lead for no oil to cancel out a false alarm. A possible perfect storm waiting to happen and after a fresh rebuild too. The customer would have never gotten a low oil alarm due to a bad gauge and never would have gotten a no oil alarm due to the sender being taped off. So he would have run out of oil and never known it and would have locked up the motor. The VRO would have gotten full credit for it. But the VRO was working as designed but someone had bypassed the warning system. That isn't the pumps fault. Not saying that is the case with yours just letting you know how somethings happen in the real world.

Were all the bearings blue colored from lack of lube, were all 6 pistons severely scored, and were the all crankshaft journals also damaged and blued? Imagine what a premix motor would look like inside after being run with no oil ever mixed with the gas.
The motor would not be rebuildable. Now chances are that the "VRO" was not the problem with your motor and that is why you did not get an alarm sound.
Read this for a better understanding of how the "VRO" works and why it gets the blame even though most of the time it is not at fault.

Thank I have that many times. The motor had two bad pistons in it and the crank and bearings some discoloring to them. Luckily I was only running about 4k rpms when it locked up so the insides did not come to the outside. As for the alarm system the horn sounded every time I turned Key on so I guess it was working.

Well, then that proves that it was NOT the "VRO" that was at fault.
If you premixed your gas and oil and the same thing happened would you believe a mechanic who said that you did not mix oil with the gas if ONLY 2 cylinders were damaged and the other 4 were OK?
Ok I see your point. But where did the oil go if the vro was working properly?

Same place as if you premixed the gas and oil and did not have a "VRO" pump.
Don't forget that the "VRO" premixes the gas and oil inside the fuel pump chamber and then sends it up the fuel hoses to the different carburetors. Each carb gets the same premixed gas and oil. That is why a "VRO" failure cannot affect only 1 or 2 cylinders, it would have to affect ALL of them.
