On/Off switch in rear hatch
I noticed an on/off switch at the top lip of the back compartment. According to Rangers website it look like it goes to the trolling motor. Can anyone tell me exactly what it is, and why I would need to turn it off? It's just a black box with a switch on the side of it.

Turn it off and see what doesn't work.....if your trolling motor is wired direct it may be a shut off for safety and charging...... http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif

It is the master power for your TM. It's always good to flip it off. I've seen guys go to put their cover on and lay the cover on the TM foot pedal and the TM blade spins. May or may not hurt the cover or TM, but better safe than sorry.
Re: On/Off switch in rear hatch (Hydrilla Gorilla)
I just turned the switch off and tried to run the trolling motor and it still worked. Any other ideas of what it might be?

With the switch off do any of your other electronics work? pumps, dash, locators, lights, etc.

I don't know if any thing else works but I did turn the key and it went through it's test cycle and all the lights lit up.
Re: On/Off switch in rear hatch (Bluegrass Rules)
One thing I just found out about it was that the front trim switch won't work with it off. Is there a pattern that anyone sees here that might be of help? Is there anything else that might not work I should look out for?
I also noticed there are 2 switches. 1 for each batt. The cranking batt switch when turned off shuts down the accessories (GPS, Depth Finder, etc.) Should I turn these off while charging or does it matter? Also, does it matter that the cranking batt does not need charging but it's hooked up to charger anyways? Will it hurt it to be hooked up while the TM batt is being charged?

Re: On/Off switch in rear hatch (Bluegrass Rules)
Not sure if they are set up the same? But I have two master shut offs on my Triton, 1 for Tm and other for electronis, gps, motor. As stated before with the TM's they can kick on. The OB's have a computer in them and will constantly drain power, as will a GPS module. I usually turn everything off just before I'm pulling away from the ramp. My trim will not work w/o the power on. So when I get to the ramp I have to turn the switches on, otherwise I cant remove the transom saver. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/USA1.gif

I have two switches in the back of my ranger. One for the trolling motor and the other for the electronics. I turn them off when I pull out of the water and clean up.

It shuts off all of the accessories. You can still run the motor but it shuts power off to everything else. The trolling motors are on another circuit and the circuit breaker for it is generally in the passenger side dry storage compartment.

Always a good idea to shut these off when you trailer your boat. I brushed up against my light on the side of the dash and never noticed. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/mad.gif Low and behold the next time out Battery was dead as a door nail. Lucky I had jumpers in the truck or a 2 hr drive to the lake would have been for nothing. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/ohwell.gif
