I have a 2000 90 horse Merc motor, and was looking into the price for a remote water pressure guage to keep track of in case the pump goes out on it. A friend of mine told me that this motor should have an audible alarm in case if the water pressure to the motor gets too low. Is this a feature of this motor? I cant seem to find anything about it in the Merc manual.
I've never heard of a water pressure alarm. The Merc's have an overheat alarm, but by then it can sometimes be late (just prior to engine blowing). http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/smile.gif I (and a lot of guys) like to have both a pressure gauge and a temp gauge on my motors. This is in addition to the overheat alarm. Sort of like a belt and suspenders. You have a lot better indication of whats going on before you have the problem.

Never heard of a water pressure alarm. It should have an overheat alarm though. Don't trust those alarms either. Get a gauge for the water pressure and the engine temp.
