I have a stretch of fascia boards that rots b/c roof was trimmed too short and water runs on board. I am considering PVC fascia board? Anyone with experience?
?1- B/f paint, Does it need primer, what kind?
?2- read to glue joints, Clear Pipe glue?
?3- read not to use finish nails?

I am in the process of this very same thing.
1. I do not think it needs primer. I had some columns built a couple years ago and just painted them with exterior paint. Still look great.
2. You can use clear pvc glue BUT you only have about 20 seconds to make any adjustments when holding it together. They make a special glue for it that will give you about 15 mins to work with it.
3. I have not heard about not using finish nails. I will look that up but I think you don't have to nail it together just glue. But you have to nail it to your house so I am not sure about this one.

Thanks, After more research it looks as if the PVC will not be my best option. I am splicing it in to wood so my local luber yrd has a composite board with 25 yr warranty that is easier to splice into wood? Ill post brand when I look into it more.
I'm painting my fascia trim this week. Found a couple in rough shape today. Let us know what you find out. I won't be able to get to them for a week or so due to work, but I see they need to be replaced. Painted over them, but it's just a temp cover up.

the material you want to use is called Azek . you don't need to prime it just use sherwinwilliams best exterior latex (super paint ) use the glue that goes with it and nail with stainless steel trim nails using a trim gun. I am a contractor and this is all I use on exterior. Good luck!
Prob would be a good idea to get your roof problem fix to before water starts to get behind your fascia boards
