2000 225 Ficht No start......Sometimes
Serial # G04848099
Model# E225FPLSSH
Date of Manufacture 03/2000
Went out fishing last weekend, started and ran great as always. Stopped and fished a spot for a couple of hours went to move, hit the key and nothing. Upon checking found the inline 20amp fuse was blown. Changed fuse and started like nothing ever happened. Yesterday went to take the boat out and it would crank but would not fire. After several attempts it blew the 20amp inline fuse again. I replaced the fuse, tried it again and started right up. Has anyone had any issues with either starter solinoid or ignition key switch ? I thought maybe EMM, but there are no codes or lights .......... Any ideas, pointers, greatly appreciated.

check the two wires that plug in on the fuse/relay box,Sometimes that corroded up.I think one is green and are large wires.

If you are talking about the only 20amp fuse in the system, the one by itself hanging a few inches from the power distribution panel and that feeds the EMM, then you may be the recipient of bad news. EMM intermittent internal short, unless you find a corrosion or shorted wire going to it.
Re: 2000 225 Ficht No start......Sometimes (SEAHORSE)
Seahorse, That would be the fuse I am refering too..... However when I attempt to start it, If I only turn the key untill the starter engages it will fire up no problem. If I turn the key all the way to the end of the start position it will crank and not start, or it will blow the 20 amp fuse. ( a couple of inches from the PDP)

If it will always start that way I believe I would try a new key switch, if the drain hole on rhe switch body is turned up it will hold water and eventually corrode the contacts.

Seahorse..... This is one time I wish you were'nt right... After replacing the ignition switch and starter solenoid neither one cured the problem. I called DFI Technologies and talked to Eric who explained to me what happened to the EMM. I guess I'll be sending it off to DFI to get repaired. Thanks again for the help fellas....

Seahorse, you were right as rain. I got the EMM back from DFI this week, reinstalled it on my motor and it fired up just the way it always had. The only downfall is now it's time to winterize and put it away for a few months. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/crying.gif Oh well, another month and I'll be able to ice fish. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif C'mon April http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/praying.gif
