For those of you who use tupperware/plastic containers to store leftover pasta sauce, etc, heres a very simple tip to prevent the container from being stained. Before putting in the pasta sauce into the container, give the container a good coating of a cooking spray or light coat of oil. The oil prevents the acid in the tomato from etching into the plastic and you wont end up with red plastic containers any longer.
