Looking at purchasing a 98 carburated johnson with low hrs. Is this a reliable engine? Not real familiar with johnsons. Heard mixed reports on the fitch engines but have not heard anything bad on the carbed engine.

Thanks guys, Thats what I thought.
The carb 60* engines have been the flag ship of the OMC engines thru the 90's. Solid engines, that with proper maintenance will run almost forever....JMHO
