Eddie, I can save you even more money. Leave the tape off and use PRO's Soft~Bait Glue, instead of that other stuff you have there. You won't need to tape it on!!

i just made me one and they work really good. i used the glue that you melt to put on spare rod tips and it is really strong. no need for tape.

Good idea....
You could also use glue as mentioned, or wrap it like a normal guide...epoxy is fairly cheap http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif

kb here is what i use i put mine on the threads on rod in front of reel.
its used for cabel tv wire to run through no glue ,tape just a line tie kb
